Hi All
This may have been answered prviously but here goes.
A business customer has asked for filtered or filterable report (export to CSV / Excel ideal) of all documents any specific metadata in a document library. I know I can powershell it and that there is a codeplex solution to do this however as we have DocAve version 6.5 everything imaginable, I was thinking this report may be available through DocAve.
Any Ideas
Thanks in Advance

renaming files in a document library

Is there a way with DocAve to rename the files in a document library that has file versioning turned on? One of our Divisions is spread across multiple physical locations/sites and they each have to keep track of certain types of files. We’ll call them TPS reports. Some sites used to name their TPS Reports something like “TPS 1001a.pdf” but have since standardized on the naming from other sites which looks like “SITE TPS 1001a.pdf” If it weren’t for the versioning, I would just open up the davwwwroot folder for the library and use a batch file or PowerShell script. I’ve been looking for something in the DocAve suite that might help me accomplish the request of renaming every file that starts with JSA* and prefixing it with “SITE “.

Hi There,

The source missing could be due to a couple different issues. The first thing I would check is that the agent account credentials have not been updated or changed. If so you will need to update them and rerun the migration. I would then check to see if the User Policy has changed on the web application where the agent account no longer has Full Control. Third I would check and make sure that the account is still has the correct permissions.

The easiest way to do this is to create a Health Analyzer in DocAve to check the SharePoint Migration Rules, it will point out any permission deficiencies or other issues.

The last thing I would validate, is to make sure you can reach the source content as well. Really that’s the first thing I would check followed by the above permissions issues.

Thanks,

Isaac

Lotus Notes to SharePoint migration questions

Hi

We are trying to migrate documents from a Lotus Notes database to a SharePoint document set. The documents in Lotus Notes are in a parent / child relationship. We are finding that the metadata transferred to the SharePoint parent document set contains the metadata from the parent and child and the child (these are attachments) contain now. Does anyone know how to migrate these so the correct metadata is retained within each document?

We would like to do the following:

1. Move all the metadata properties from information form(parent document) in lotus notes to document set row in SharePoint document library as fields.
2. Move all the metadata properties from attachment form(Child document) in lotus notes to inside the document set row as a file attachment properties
3. Can we maintain the parent child relationship in SharePoint similar to lotus notes
4. How avepoint is migrating users from lotus notes to SharePoint users.
5. How avepoint will handle if it cannot find a particular user in SharePoint (this could happen if the user in question has left the organization)
6. How avepoint will exclude certain documents as we are not migrating all the documents from lotus notes
7. How avepoint handles the migration of taxonomy values from lotus notes to a managed metadata field in SharePoint
The taxonomy values are currently stored as “Client services->growth->International Tax->Tax” format. how this value will be moved to managed metadata field in SharePoint by avepoint ?

The taxonomy column value also can contain two different values from the same category or two different values from two different category including French values “Content Types~36224~Events\Hosted External Event~Activités\Activité externe organisée par” “Client Services~1952~Events~Activités”

The above value contains French as well . will avepoint split the values and store each category value into separate columns?. WilI it also separate the French values and store them in separate columns?

We also have a Lotus Notes Disucssion forum database to miration

Clarifications needed from docave team for discussion board migration

Can the same hierarchy be moved to SharePoint discussion board list threaded view (parent doc with child replies underneath) . the thread should be created in SharePoint as it is and the replies should be created as per the hierarchy? How would we configure the migration tool to do this.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Have the following structure in WSS 3.0 Sharepoint site: Doc Lib – Folder – Doc1, Doc 2 … I want to copy only the documents (Doc1, Doc2, …) to the root of another document library.

I keep getting the parent folder and the documents in the new library.

Can this be done?

Replicator Service Error

We currently have a license for the DocAve content manager; I believe at one time we were either trying out the replicator or we had a license for the replicator. However, we are receiving multiple errors (one every minute) with the following message :
The job failed.
Job ID: Host
Cause: ReplicatorException: bb486d34-c045-40c7-9875-a47eda46d664
More Information: http://www.avepoint.com/community/event-id/?id=2405

Can you provide me with instructions on how to disable the Replicator? When I log into the Admin portal I don’t see an option to turn on/off different services. Thank you.

Best practice restore DocAve SharePoint WFE & APP server only

$

Hi all. First poster here.

We are having a bit of a trauma at the moment with a small Sharepoint site protected by DocAve 6.

Granular, and Platform backups are working fine.

The site is pretty much the smallest config possible so that would be

WEBAPP1
DB1
DC1

The O/S is Windows 2008R2 – and the site is actually running perfectly.

So you may be wondering why we need to restore anything at all!

The problem we have hit is a nasty MS Windows Update issue, which appears to be impossible to solve. Mysteriously the update failing issue only occurs on WEBAPP1. The result means we are unable to patch WEBAPP1 as Windows Update fails. We have tried all the MS recommendation, preparation tool, SFC, etc etc and nothing works. We think we may need a re-install here.

So. My question is – if the only means to get this issue solved is to perform a complete re-install of the WFE/APP server – is there any means of doing this with DocAVE which would make the restore less painful?

The DocAve 6 documentation focuses mainly on farm / DB restores, in our case, the DB server is fine and we won’t want to touch that.

So lets say our WebAPP server had died, and we needed to restore it on a clean server, is this possible to do without restoring the entire Farm (ie DB server too)?

Or – baring in mind that our existing WebAPP server is actually running fine, is the least pain option to consider adding a 2nd WFE & APP server to the farm on a clean server via the Wizard, and then taking down the old one? I know this is simple for WFE, but for APP, don’t think it’s quite so easy.

I’ll be really interested (and eternally grateful) for any feedback / opinions on this predicament….

Cheers,
JD

Thanks Ben,

Just to clarify before we get support involved, a Farm Clone – this involves cloning the entire Farm (in our case, all three servers) or can it be performed to ‘clone out’ just the single WFE/APP server?

Because the Farm is actually running OK, I am reluctant to mess around with SQL and AD servers, so am looking for a way I could take a blank Windows server, of the same O/S as the existing WFE server, install the docave agent to this, and then do an ‘out of place’ restore of just that server. The restore can not involve restoring the full O/S on to the new server, because doing that would simply give me a perfect replica of the working server, and a perfect replica of the windows update issue too!!!!

So is it possible to perform an out of place of restore on just a WFE / APP server, without touching the DB and AS servers?

JD

Hey JD,

Sorry for the confusion. You are correct, the Farm Clone would clone all of your servers to a new location. I think you are going to want to contact our support team as we are going to either rebuild or clone your whole farm or restore specific content at the database level in a granular restoration.

Hi Harold,
This can be done by choosing the following options under the copy settings(after selecting the source and destination libraries under the source tree):
1) Action – Merge
2) Conflict Resolution- Merge (for container level conflict)

Please leave the other default settings untouched. If this doesn’t help, update us regarding:
1) Your DocAve version
2) How you configured content manager the plan.

Thanks,
Murugan.

Removing RBS

$

Hello,

we need to fully reinstall a DocAve server (include recreating the databases from scratch).
We use Storage Optimization with RBS activated at Web application level on the SharePoint 2013 farm.

Is it necessary to disable RBS before uninstalling DocAve ?
Could we just uninstall DocAve and remove DocAve DB then reinstall DocAve and be able to reuse the existing Stubs DB and RBS storage ?

If it is necessary to remove RBS configuration, as we think, below are the operations we planned :
* disable real-time rule(s)
* disable scheduled policies
* convert stubs to contents
* disable RBS at web application level and scheduled activation from RBS Provider configuration
* remove Stubs Database(s)
* clear RBS storage

Is there any other required operations we could have missed ?

Best regards,
Ghislain Sibra
